Members of WomensHub will be attending the Asia GEM Workshop which is being held from September 15-19, 2002 in Makati City, Philippines. The workshop will gather the Testing Partners for Asia Pacific of the Gender Evaluation Methodology Project, an initiative of the Women's Networking Support Programme of the Association for Progressive Communications (APC-WNSP).
The Asia GEM Workshop will consist of presentations and group exercises that will allow the participants to familiarise themselves with the GEM Tool and the concepts of gender evaluation.
Currently, GEM has nine Testing Partners for Asia Pacific consisting of organisations and networks engaged in ICT training, telecentre operation, online community building and women's electronic networking. The testing partners include:
- Women's Electronic Network Training (WENT)
- Distance Education in Mongolia
- Multi-purpose Community Telecentres in the Philippines
- IT for Change
- Web Origami Kit (WOK)
- Foundation for Media Alternatives
- Centre for Women's Research (CENWOR)
Members of WomensHub are participating in the GEM Workshop to learn more about the GEM Methodology and Tools in the view of adapting these for their own initiatives and projects. WomensHub founding directors, Chat Ramilo and Cheekay Cinco are also directly involved in the GEM project as Project Manager and Asia-Pacific Coordinator, respectively.
